Houston's Katy Taylor was actually fourth at US Nationals and an alternate to Turin

I could not have been more wrong regarding Katy Taylor's senior status, news that has received so much local attention. Katy came in fourth among senior ladies at the US nationals in January. That made her first alternate on Team USA to the Olympics in February during the interval before and after Michelle Kwan's team participation. You can double click the January 16, 2006, Houston Chronicle story for a larger view (you may also need to expand it using the enlarge anchor rolling over the bottom right corner of the image in the new window.) I just didn't make the connection watching the program Sunday. My bad. The news article is reproduced here for discussion purposes only by a Chronicle subscriber without the publisher's permission.
