Houstonian Katy Taylor scheduled for Skate Canada this weekend
Katy Taylor, pictured, might want to redo her Skate America performances: in the short program, her combined technical/artistic score (34.66) just exceeded Kimmie Meissner's technical mark alone (31.72.) Katy finished 11th in the field of 11 women, but I believe I heard the announcers say that this was her first senior level performance. She's entitled to be nervous. This weekend at Skate Canada she will face Japan's Yoshie Onda and Fumie Suguri and Canada's own Joannie Rochette and Mira Leung: she's got a chance.
Hopefully, ABC will include her long program among the performances broadcast Sunday at 4 PM Houston time. No Skate Canada broadcast is scheduled within the next 14 days, but it is not uncommon for ISU Grand Prix broadcasts to occur weeks after the actual performance dates.
