2006 FIBA Championship for women: Day 5: France over Russia, ouch!

Day 5 results:

Whoa, Russia 64, France 74, despite Maria Stepanova's 18 points. France's bench scored 40 points at a 54% field goal rate compared to Russia's 7 bench points at an 11% field goal rate. This is glaring, but I think offset by the fact that Russia's overall field goal rate was 52% to France's 41.5%. I can't find a recap at this moment, but my gut reaction is that Russia was felled in its 23 turnovers to France's 15. At right Russia's Oxana Rakhmatulina and France's Celine Dumerc.

Lithuania 67, Brazil 84 Okay, well the creeping competition is vulnerable at least.

Canada 58, Argentina 62 Charlotte Sting's Tammy Sutton-Brown, No. 15 at right, for Team Canada had a game high 17 points, with 6 rebounds, 3 blocked shots but 6 turnovers.

The Aussies won, China fell, USA won.
