Good news indeed: Marion Jones named USAToday.com's Athlete of the Week
Marion Jones, pictured above winning the 100 meters at the Reebok Grand Prix in the Big Apple June 3, 2006, and because of that win and her perseverance in general, was named on June 7th as athlete of the Week by USAToday.com. Marion Jones turns back time, wins Athlete of the Week honors The field above included reigning 100 m world gold medalist Lauryn Williams of the US, reigning silver medalist Veronica Campbell of Jamaica, and 2003 world gold medalist Torri Edwards also of the US. These three all also won gold medals in various distances in Athens.
Marion Jones often walked the aisles at Comets games at the Compaq Center as part of the broadcast staffs, and it's kind of hard not to have developed some level of empathy with a person passing so often in physical proximity to you. And until a better standard is proffered, the American one of being innocent until proven otherwise should be insisted on.
