Day 8: Serena exits; Sania heads home
In the third set, it was all Mauresmo: she won the last four games, the last of which with Serena serving. Virginie Razzano, who defeated Martina Hinges in the second round, out to Dinara Safina. Na Li (pictured left) out to Sharapova (who really looks like she's come to play this time.) Jelena Jankovic finally bests Kutzy. Lindsey Davenport 6-4 6-5 over Patty Schnyder. Dementieva on. In other day 8 results: Sania Mirza and partner Liezel Huber totally controlled the first set against Kveta Peschke of the Czech Republic and Francesca Schiavone, dropped the second but exchanged breaks of serve in the third until at 5-5 Peschke and Schiavone were able to close out the last two games. Daniela Hantuchova and Ai Sugiyama, the women's double No. 4 seed, lost also in three sets to Nathalie Dechy and Vera Zvonareva. The No. 2 women's double seed, Zi Yan and Jie Zheng, won 6-4 6-3 over USA's Ashley Harkleroad and Galina Voskoboeva of Russia.
