In a word, most of Nigeria's players in the Brazilian competition are collegiates here in the US (Mfon Udoka, an exception, is a former Houston Comet.) I talked to several of the players just at the end of the WNBA season at a Comets game that the team had attended in force. In fact, I promised Chineze Nwagbo that I'd try to keep up with Syracuse during the basketball season to see how she fared. Chineze is pictured at left versus USA's Alana Beard on day 2 and below versus China's Dan Liu on day 3.

Actually, now I'm less surprised that the team showed at a Comets game seeing that their head coach is Kevin Cook, the Comets' assistant coach.
